A problem that sometimes happens is that the uploader script cannot find the themes directory. This can happen when a hosting provider puts the HTML pages inside a special folder below the actual root folder. WordPress gets confused as to where it is installed. For example, popular free hosting service Byethost.com puts everything inside an “htdocs” folder.

The solution is to use your FTP client or the online file browser your to manually upload the theme into the themes folder found inside the wp-content folder. Then just go to “Manage Themes” and your new theme will be available as a choice.
